Care Assistant Supported Living

• Deliver high quality care and support to people with a range of complex health conditions, end-of-life care, dementia and challenging behaviours in accordance with their agreed support plan, policies, and procedures.
• Provide intimate personal care to vulnerable adults, ensuring dignity is maintained and following infection control guidance. This may involve supporting with incontinence and toileting needs as well as supporting individuals with eating, drinking, and administering medication.
• Using personal protective equipment and supporting individuals to reposition by using moving, handling, mobility and lifting aids such as hoists and wheelchairs. This can involve bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
• Effectively record information, including contributing to the writing of risk assessments and support plans. Providing thorough and concise verbal and written handovers and feedback to colleagues, external agencies, and families, ensuring changes in need are reflected.
• Supporting individuals to maximise independence, promoting consent and self-expression.
• Understand own behaviour and adapt this to the needs of individuals being supported.
• Identify and support with activities that are meaningful to individuals with the in-house entertainment.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in the care sector is desirable, but we are open to individuals from all backgrounds who want to provide person-centred care, are caring and compassionate by nature and have a genuine desire to make a difference.
• We are very proud of the service we provide at Kilkenny House and support everyone in our team to do a brilliant job. Full training will therefore be provided.
• Should you be offered the role, as part of the pre-employment checks an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.  Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
